The Best Weekend Activities in Pittsburgh

Whether you have lived in Pittsburgh your whole life or are new to the Steel City, there are so many activities for you to fill your weekends with.  Even though the city in the green phase, there are still a ton of things to do while wearing a mask, of course. Check out this list of fun weekend activities you can participate in this weekend, while safely social distancing! 

 

Pittsburgh Zoo

There’s something to be said about gathering up your family and heading to the Pittsburgh Zoo on a nice summer day! The Zoo is currently operating at 50% occupancy and masks are required for anyone over the age of 2.  The zoo is operating on modified hours and will be selling general admission tickets.  If you want to skip the line, you can also purchase tickets in advance online to make sure you get a spot!

 

Heinz History Center

Pittsburgh is full of history and the Heinz History Center is the perfect place to immerse yourself in all the city has to offer! The history center is operating at half capacity and requires a face covering for all visitors.  There will also be a timed ticket system to ensure that you can safely social distance from other visitors while you are there! 

 

Point State Park

Point State Park is located at the heart of the Golden Triangle in Pittsburgh! The park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Day use areas close at dusk.  This is the perfect place to take your pets or pack a bag to have a picnic.  The point asks that all visitors have a mask with them and wear it when coming in contact with people outside of your family.  

 

Strip District

The Stript District is a Pittsburgh staple for locals and visitors.  From specialty grocery stores to restaurants offering takeout, there are still so many things to do in one of Pittsburgh’s favorite neighborhoods! Bicycle Heaven

If you are a bike lover, visit the world’s largest bike museum, right here in Pittsburgh! Take your bike on a ride along the Ohio River trail then head into the museum to see over 6,000 vintage bikes! 

 

LumberJaxes 

Visit the best Axe Throwing in Pittsburgh and channel your inner lumberjack! LumberJaxes has locations in Cranberry, Monroeville, Millvale and Mt. Lebanon.  All tables at the locations will be spaced six feet apart and masks are required.  

 

Whether you want to take your family to the zoo to see the new baby cheetahs or do some grocery shopping in the Strip District, there are still plenty of things to do in Pittsburgh, while staying safe!
